Mark Allen is an artist and photographer who works from his studio in the Crossroads Arts District of Kansas City, MO. This weekend, he will be showcasing his work for the first time in the Plaza Art Fair featuring his underwater photography from the past 10 years. His style of photography is candid and lively — each underwater shoot is an experiment in light, color, and form. Models are draped in fabric, hold props, and float in weightless space beneath the surface. The title of his show, “As Above, So Below,” is mystical in nature describing the relationship between the Macrocosm and Microcosm. In this way, the dimensional variance between the surface and the water are akin to the duality of our perceived reality and the metaphysical world.
